Eighteen year old Grisha Fournier was born in Perm, Russia, and currently trains and lives in Southern California. He is coached by Ivan Dinev and Angela Nikodinov, and Ivan is his sole choreographer. He has formerly trained with Tammy Gambill, John Nicks, Brian Tuck and Joan Heasley. Choreographers he has worked with in the past include Philip Mills, Galina Barinova, Braden Overett and Wendy Burge. In addition to his singles, Grisha has tested through the Intermediate level in Pairs.
Grisha’s short program this year is set to music from the “Mission Impossible 2″ soundtrack, and his long program is set to Piano Concerto No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninov.
Grisha is currently in his senior year at Connections Academy, a charter school in San Juan Capistrano. Other interests include listening to music (a particular favorite is Eminem), playing basketball, going to the movies, and relaxing with friends. He studies Russian, has taught himself piano, and plans on learning the electric guitar soon. He would like to stay active in skating as a coach, and will pursue studies in digital music editing and mixing.
